Creamy Coconut

Continuing with my collection of new Dr Pepper can designs and flavors, what about this one?

My daughter brought this when she moved home from college for the summer.  What kind of weird flavor is that?

I admit I didn't try it.  And won't.  I'm not a fan of coconut.  Unless it's coconut-scented sunscreen.  Which makes me think of summer.  So what better flavor to have for a summer soda?

I'm told it really does taste good.  I guess so if it made it all the way to being sold in a store.  But I think I'd rather drink sunscreen.  Thanks.

Super Rooster Booster

Last week brought a can I had never heard of before!

Super Rooster Booster.  It's a fruit punch flavored energy drink.  I was told it tasted pretty good, too.  The side of the can claims it boosts performance, boosts concentration, boosts endurance, boosts metabolism, and speeds up reaction with a boost of caffeine.

Sounds like a lot of boosting for one rooster.  But then again, he's a Super Rooster!

Most Colorful Ghost

What is EDC 2024?  It's the Electric Daisy Carnival held in Las Vegas last month that ran from May 17-19.  It's an immersive experience of music, art, and community.

And the GHOST Energy drink flavor Electric Limeade had this limited edition themed can for EDC 2024.

Someone saved this can for me.  It has to be one of the most colorful cans in my collection.  And after researching the event the design is based on, I think the colors and theme are very appropriate.  

I hadn't heard of EDC before I got this can, but it sounds like a real party.  Just like this can.

Diablo IV

For those video gamers out there that play Diablo IV, the game recently had a big update that has brought a lot of players back to it.

This is another Mtn Dew Game Fuel flavor, Mystic Punch.  On the left side of the can you can see Lilith, the main antagonist of the game.  This is a fruit punch flavor that I was told is very good.  But most Mtn Dew flavors are very good.

Season 4 of the game started recently and with it came a big loot overhaul which reportedly has improved the game immensely.  I played it at launch but it's been a while, so last week I updated it and started a new character.  I'll see for myself how much the game has changed.

And with this being Memorial Day weekend, there's a whole extra day available for some game time.  Fire up the grill, I'm going to hunt some demons.

Zero Sugar Pepper

Someone at work has been bringing cans of different Dr Pepper flavors to me.  This week was no different.

So far I have the cream soda and cherry flavors.  This week I got the regular Zero Sugar variety.  He said this tastes better than Diet Dr Pepper.  I'll take his word for it.

Let's see what the next flavor will be...

Faze Pop

I found something in the trash at work this week.

After a good cleaning, I brought this can home to meet the other cans in my collection.  This GHOST energy drink appears to be flavored like a Bomb Pop.  The colors of the can even match what a Bomb Pop looks like.  And just looking at the can I can imagine what it tastes like.  Yummy.

Summer's just around the corner and the temperatures are already on the rise.  So grab yourself a Faze Pop and enjoy the summer.

Cinco de Rio

Today is Cinco de Mayo.  Celebrations and parties abound.  It makes me think of the famous Rio Carnival in Brazil.  Which makes me think of a can I was given this week.

Monster Juice energy drink has a flavor called Rio Punch.  I've always been a fan of the green/yellow color combination, so this can immediately caught my attention.  

But also the festive design really stands out.  And along with the colors and fun design, there's an article that cansplains Carnival and how much Rio Punch is pretty much Carnival-in-a-can.

Overall a fun addition to my collection.  Where were the Arbor Day Edition cans this year?

Spyro the Dragon Fruit

If you've been a long-time video gamer then you know who Spyro the Dragon is.  If you're not, Spyro the Dragon has been in video games for a long time.  That should cover all the readers.

G Fuel came out with this limited edition can earlier this year.  0 sugar, 0 calories.  It's a win-win.  The actual flavor is called dragon fruit, go figure.  It's an energy drink that make those gaming sessions last longer than nature intended.

As to how the drink tasted, I don't know.  I can't even remember who gave me this can.  Where am I?  Oh, an empty can.  Which way to the recycle bin?

Just kidding.  Spyro is safe.

C4 Starburst

C4 energy drink has an interesting-looking can for its Starburst flavor energy drink.

The colors certainly remind me of the lemon and strawberry flavored Starbursts.  I didn't taste this, but the person who saved the can for me said it kind of tasted like Starburst.  It was ok.

What's more, it has zero sugar which can't be said for the little chewy flavored sugar-squares candy known as Starburst.

If I were to grade this, I'd give it a "C" 4 effort.

A Regular Sprite Can

I saw a co-worker drinking Sprite last week and asked if I could have the can.

"This?  It's a regular can, nothing special about," they said.  

I had realized I didn't have this regular Sprite can.  I told her the difference in this can was the logo, they now write it horizontally where it's always been vertical in the past.  She looked at it for a second and said, "Huh."

I did get a horizontal logo in December at our work holiday luncheon, but it was a special promo can.

Sometimes you don't even notice the regular, every day stuff.  But when collecting, you have to keep yours open and be focused all the time!!  

Dr Pepper Cherry

Last week's post was about me asking someone for his Dr Pepper Cream Soda can.  This week, the can is Dr Pepper Cherry.

But I didn't have to ask this time!  He brought this to drink it specifically so I could have another new can.  Now that's the kind of networking you have to do when collecting something.  

He even commented how neat this can looks, the color is an interesting dark teal blue color, one you don't often see on cans.  And with the rest of the can black it really is a neat design.

Ok, keep 'em coming.  I always have room for one more can...

Dr Pepper Cream Soda

I noticed someone drinking this at work last week and decided to ask for the can.

They know I have a can collection but we've never really talked about it much.  So when I asked for this one he was surprised I didn't already have such a common, current can.  But I told him I don't drink soda and I can't just buy sodas to empty them out for the cans.  So I just ask for people's trash.

He was surprised with some of my stats (such as I started collecting in 2011, have over 6000 cans now, have cans from many countries, etc.).  

He also recommended when the day comes that I show all the boxes of cans to my kids and reveal they'll all be theirs someday, not to be upset if they ask, "So, how much do you think all these weigh?"

Tetris

This week someone saved their G Fuel energy drink can for me.  

This can is extremely colorful, but then so is the game that inspired it.  This flavor is called Tetris Blast and I don't even know what it tastes like.  But I hope it tastes better than the blocks look in Tetris.

With zero sugar and 0 calories you certainly won't be gaining any weight by drinking these.  That will come from the hours of sitting you'll do while playing the video game Tetris.

Prime

A couple weeks ago a co-worker brought in an energy drink he was trying for the first time.  He knows I collect cans, so this was one he bought to taste and to give me the can.

This is the original flavor for Prime energy drink.  I love the simplicity of the black & white can design, along with the hand-drawn doodles up and down both sides of the logo.

I'm not sure why this caught my attention, but usually when a logo is printed sideways the bottom of the letters is on the right.  But in this case, the bottom of the letters in "Prime" is on the left.  Maybe that's intentional so subconsciously your brain picks this can out from the others on the shelf, not knowing why it looks different.

Regardless, it's a great addition to my collection and I'm looking forward to the next Prime...

Cosmic Stardust

One can find the strangest things in the trash.  Recently I looked in a trash can at work and saw Cosmic Stardust.

Of course I cleaned it very well, but it's a can of Alani Nu energy drink.  The can is cool!  The name is cool!  Me digging through the trash, not so cool.

But one man's trash is another man's treasure (which can still be considered trash).

New Diet Pepsi

I was at my parents' house recently and they asked if I had this new design for Diet Caffeine Free Pepsi.

Nope, not yet.  So they drank one and I took the can home with me.

I don't even have a regular Pepsi can with the newest logo design, so now I'm looking for someone to drink one of those for me.

Doubleshot Rescue

At work last week I noticed a can sitting just outside the stockroom.

I watched for the person drinking it and embarrassingly asked for the can when they were done.  It can still be hard to ask someone for their trash.  But it's getting easier.

After it was cleaned up and at my house, I took a better pic.  It's a Starbucks doubleshot energy drink in the form of vanilla-flavored coffee.

In the end, now I have one more person watching for interesting cans for me.  It's worth the embarrassment.  

Ultra Rosa

I was given another can at work last week.

This is from the co-worker who drinks a lot of Monster and other energy drinks.  And he's been going out of his way to try different flavors.  Also to give me new cans.

I really like when a company colors the top of the can, as Monster did with this Ultra Rosa.  The name is a little off-putting to me just because I'm not a fan of rose scent normally, and I imagine this would not only smell like roses but even taste like it?  I'm sure that's not the case, but I'd never buy one just for that reason.

But it does go to show that an Ultra Rosa by any other name is still an Ultra Rosa.

Naruto for Christmas

Another can my kids got me for Christmas was this limited edition Naruto G FUEL can.

G FUEL is an energy drink that features different video games.  After all, it's Gamer FUEL.  Drink while you play.

The graphics on this can are way cool.  And very colorful.  And I like the inclusion of Japanese on the can.  Naruto is a Japanese manga that's also been featured in anime.

So if you're looking to increase your gaming stamina and are a fan of Naruto, you can't go wrong with this one.  It has the looks and the energy you need.

A Beachball in Winter

For Christmas last month, one of the cans my kids got me was this one.

I have never heard of Beachball, but it's a low-calorie (15 calories per can) hibiscus tea.  And this particular can in strawberry flavored.

It has a side-panel that describes itself in more detail.  I love the description, "Take your tastebuds on a magical tour...".  Challenge accepted.

With the recent temperatures outside flirting with 0-degress F, anything to remind of warmer weather is welcome.  And in this case, I'm looking forward to enjoying a chilly evening with a Beachball.

Two More Monsters

After my post from last week, the same coworker went to Subway twice more for two more cans.

This week they brought me Monster Energy Ultra Sunrise and Ultra Peachy Keen.  They said the Sunrise was good but they weren't too keen on the peach.

Maybe I can convince them to eat more Subway in the near future...

Two Monsters

Another person at work now knows I have a can collection.  After finding out last week, they went to a nearby Subway for lunch two of the days and brought back these slim beauties for me.

They are 12oz slim cans of Monster Energy Zero Ultra and Ultra Strawberry Dreams.  I just posted a couple months ago about getting the 16oz version of Ultra Strawberry Dreams.

With a new pair of eyes looking out for interesting or limited edition cans, 2024 looks to be another good year of collecting.  We'll see...

My Holiday Luncheon Door Prize

Our annual holiday luncheon at work was held recently and there was a wide selection of beverages.

But the one I had my eye on was this Sprite sporting a new can design. It's a limited edition can celebrating 50 years of hip-hop.

I haven't drunk any soda for 5 years so how would I get this lovely beast without wasting the soda inside?  I asked my co-worker for hers when she was finished with it.  She knows about my collection and has offered a few cans herself.

The last can of 2023!  And now let's see how many cans I can collect in 2024!  Happy New Year!

Christmas Eve

Santa Claus came a little early this year,

A few weeks ago I was given this year's Coca-Cola holiday can.  I couldn't wait to put the Christmas tree up so the Santa on the can could relax in a familiar environment.

Another Can Rescue

A couple weeks ago I was at work and glanced in a trash can as I walked by.  What did I see?

Someone had thrown away this perfectly good Celsius Peach Vibe can!

Celsius is a sparkling energy drink and this particular flavor sounds really delicious.  But to avoid strange looks and many questions, I didn't ask around to see who drank it to ask for their review.

Instead, I rescued it from impending recycling and now it sits with the other cans in my collection.  It found a good home.

Fill'er Up

Running out of gas during those long video gaming sessions?  Mtn Dew has a solution.

Many Game Fuel cans have been featured on this blog in the past and this is another one.  This flavor is Citrus Cherry and features characters from HALO Infinite on the can.  My son saved it for me from one of his gaming sessions.

Come on, Playstation!  Where's your fuel?

Waterloo at Work

At work last week someone brought in a few flavors of Waterloo for people to drink.

There were two cans I didn't have yet, so I grabbed one of each.  Blackberry Lemonade was one of them.  The other will be featured in an upcoming post.

Waterloo is a brand of sparkling water that... let's just say there isn't much flavor.  One co-worker described it as a can of carbonated water that someone waved a blackberry over and declared it to be blackberry flavored.  While I heard many grumblings from people who tried the drink, it just meant there was more for me because I actually like it.

I'm still not sure why someone would bring all that water to work to just give it away.  But being such a flop at work I suspect it probably wasn't a big hit in their house, either.

Strawberry Monster

Don't be afraid of a little fruit.

Monster Ultra Strawberry Dreams is nice.

Another co-worker now knows about my can collection.  I saw them drinking this and knew I didn't have the can, so I awkwardly asked if I could have the can when they were done.  Then I spent the next few minutes explaining the history of my collection and some of the treasures I've accumulated in the last 12.5 years (yes, my first post on the blog was April 11, 2011).  

They finished the drink, slowly handed me the can, and had a look on their face that clearly said, "You collect what, now?"

A Nice Surprise

Last week I was asked to stop by someone's house to pick up a few things to take somewhere else.  They said there was a surprise in the bag for me.

When I got there to pick up the stuff, I could see something peeking out of the bag at me... it was a can with a new 7UP design.

I hadn't seen this design yet.  And upon closer examination I found out this can is from Canada.

I haven't talked to them yet to find out the story behind the can or how they got it, but if it's interesting I'll be sure to update this post with the information.  

Ghost Sighting

While visiting someone last week, something colorful in their trash can caught my eye.

Halloween is over, but it's not too late to see ghosts.  I politely asked if I could take something out of their trash can and became the proud owner of a new can for my collection.

This is the second Ghost energy drink can in my collection.  The first one was strawberry flavor, this one is cotton candy.

As a collector, you always have to pay attention to your surroundings.  You never know what may be just out of sight...

Liquid Dream

Several weeks ago someone saved this can for me.

I'm not much of a fan of the orange dreamsicle flavor in anything, but I know some people who love it!  And they said this Monster Reserve energy drink was great.

Go try it.  Sounds like it'd be great on a hot, summer day.  But now winter's coming.

Halloween VooDew

With Halloween just a couple days away, I thought it was fitting to feature this Mtn Dew Mystery Flavor can this week.

For the first time, Mtn Dew and Airheads (a brand of taffy) have teamed up for this limited edition flavor.  It tastes like cherry-flavored Airheads.  

My favorite part of this can is that it's marked with the year.  That takes out the guesswork when trying to date cans that are many years old.  

Don't be scared to try this flavor!  And Happy Halloween!

Y3000

My son saved this can for me.  

It's a small 7.5 fl oz can of Coca-Cola.  It's part of their Creations line and claims to be "the first limited edition Coke flavor from the future."  haha

The flavor was co-created with AI, the big world-changer over the past several months.  Scan the QR code to take part in digital and IRL experiences... whatever that means.

One account says it tastes like the aftertaste of a tutti fruitti jellybean.  Did we really need a computer to come up with that?

All I know is I'm glad I was able to get one of these cans now because I won't be around in the year 3000 when it's the common, everyday can.

New Wild Cherry Pepsi

I like the new Pepsi logo.  It's simple.  It's bold.  And it looks like this:

Not the best picture, but this new can design really looks good.  The cherries look juicy.  The new logo looks juicy.  And "wild cherry" sounds juicy.

But beware, the can claims "Contains 0% juice".  I beg to differ.

New Waterloo

Waterloo is a brand of sparkling water.  I saw this recently and realized I didn't have one yet, so I got one.

The flavor is lemon-lime.  

Lemon-lime water.  Not sure if it gets more boring than that.

Zero Sugar

I was recently given this Coca-Cola Zero Sugar can.

It's 7.5 fl oz.  I really like the black-on-red color scheme.  The regular Coca-Cola script is white-on-red, but it's full of sugars (artificial).  So you take the opposite of sugar to have zero-sugar, and the opposite of white to make black.  And this is what you get.

Anyway, it's a neat can to have.

Party Time

I attended a birthday party yesterday.  The birthday person wasn't the only one to receive gifts, I grabbed this can for my collection.

I have several other Clear American cans in my collection, but this is my first Mandarin Orange.  And the design of the cans has changed, so now I'm on the lookout for the other flavors.

I gave a gift... and got a gift.  What a party!

In a League of Its Own 3

After reporting on a couple of League of Legend Coca-Cola cans I received recently, my daughter called from college and asked if I knew what League of Legends is.  Yes!  On her next visit home she brought this can to me.

It's a small 7.5oz can that's +XP Flavored, whatever that means.  The packaging said it was another League of Legends can, one labeled "Ultimate limited edition".

With this +XP can, my collection just levelled up.  (video game Dad joke)

New Shop, New Cans (part 2)

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned finding some new cans at my town's food pantry.  Those weren't the only cans I got that day.

I also discovered this box of various canned drinks to be given out.  Digging through the box, I found these three that I didn't have.

It's hard to tell what the green can is, but it's a Wegmans Lime sparkling water.  Next to it is a Wegman's Tonic Water that contains quinine (which sounds dangerous).  And finally there's a La Croix Black Razzberry, which of course is "naturally essenced".

Advice to collectors:  always be on the lookout, you never know when you'll find a can you need!

A Golden Gift

Someone recently saved their Monster Energy can for me.  

With somewhat of an art deco design along the top and bottom, this zero sugar Ultra Gold can is now in my collection.

New Shop, New Cans

Earlier this year the food pantry in my town moved to a new location.  It's now bigger and cleaner and improved in many ways.  I know a couple people who volunteer there so I stopped by today to see the new place.  But what was I really looking for?

Well, I found this box in the back.  CANS!

And that's how these two cans came to be in my can collection.
